EcoTrail Copenhagen Officially Launched

EcoTrail Copenhagen is the newest edition to the exciting international trail running series.

The Danish capital is to welcome trail runners from around Europe and beyond for the international trail running race series EcoTrail!  The event is set to take place on Sunday April 23rd 2023.  Participants have the choice of four distances to run:  10km, 20km, 45km or 80km for experienced runners.  All races are set to start and finish at Akademisk Boldklub (Gladsaxe), only 20 minutes from the centre of Copenhagen.  The various routes are 90% or more on trails, and run through dense woodlands, along lakeshores and marshes and passing by some local attractions.

EcoTrail was first organised in Paris some 15 years ago with the objective to connect the city with the outdoors with a stunning finish on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. Ecotrail comes with a very strong eco-responsible ethos and each event is committed to reduce litter, minimise environmental impact and promote public transport. The Ecotrail concept has been recreated around various cities in Europe and is now held in Oslo, Stockholm, Geneva, Valencia, Wicklow/Dublin and Porto in Europe.  There are also Asian EcoTrail in Malaysia and Thailand, and more planned around the world.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Copenhagen into the Ecotrail family” says Jean Charles Perrin, Ecotrail founder and CEO of Ecotrail International. “Copenhagen is a beautiful and vibrant European capital, with many nearby trails for all to enjoy.  The popularity of Trail Running is constantly growing around the world, and Copenhagen’s surroundings offer a perfect playground for the sport.

Steen Rydal Jorgensen, Business Manager at Akademisk Boldklub adds: “Our club is home to various sports, and we are looking for new sports to attract more members to AB. Trail Running is becoming more and more popular, and with the green forest in our backyard, it’s natural for AB to team up with EcoTrail and host this exciting event. With mutual values in our environment and a greener future, we have great expectations with this partnership, and are looking forward to welcoming trail-runners to AB and through our forests north of Copenhagen."

Recently awarded World Capital of Architecture, Copenhagen is a vibrant European Capital with plenty to see and do.  EcoTrail Copenhagen offers a great opportunity for participants to enjoy a fantastic weekend in Denmark.
